On April 12, 2019, Lynn Ann Wiscount will be retiring from the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 (“IU 29”) after 33 years.
Lynn Ann began her career with IU 29 as a Microcomputer Technical Support Specialist in the Technology department. As part of her duties, she supported a brand new state initiative called Access Pennsylvania. Lynn Ann helped to move the Access Pennsylvania database from DVDs to the web, worked with numerous vendors through the automatic adds, and developed the adds, changes, and deletes process. She was serving as the Coordinator of Research and Development for the Access Pennsylvania project when she was asked to take on the coordination duties of another state initiative called POWER Library. Over the years, the POWER Library community benefited from Lynn Ann’s expertise with e-resources and enjoyed hearing about all the new enhancements at the fall and spring trainings. She continued to serve in that role until 2017.
In addition to providing support to the POWER Library project, Lynn Ann also served as the Coordinator of Technology Services for the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 where she shared her computer expertise with the school districts of the county and helped support the county regional network. It was not uncommon for Lynn Ann to be seen presenting at various conferences across the state sharing her knowledge of everything from STEM to Open Educational Resources. As part of the duties with IU 29, she also shared her knowledge as a corporate trainer.
Lynn Ann played an important role in building the Access Pennsylvania system and the POWER Library, and we here at HSLC appreciate the hard work and dedication she gave to these initiatives. A generation of Pennsylvania librarians benefited from the skill and good humor with which she shared her expertise and knowledge.
After retirement, Lynn Ann plans to travel and to continue to sell log home kits. We wish her well with those new and continuing endeavors. Happy travels, Lynn Ann!
