The Millvale Community Library makerspace is a vibrant place full of Maker camp activities this summer. Our free Maker camps include: art camp, music camp, fashion camp, Riverfront and environmental camp, space camp, and pottery camp. ( There are 10 slots available for each camp and registration fills up quickly for the camps).
The morning camp session is from 10 to noon with children ages 6 to 8. The afternoon camp session from 1 to 3 is for children ages 9 to 12. All children enjoy a free summer lunch from the PA State Department of Education through our participation in the summer meals program. Children enjoy a great summer of making with Maker Education Director Roman Benty.
Millvale Library Executive Director Susan McClellan said’ “the summer camps are a fantastic learning experience for the children and also teaches them critical thinking skills, decision making skills, and life skills connecting them to a deeper learning experience. ” Example, children in sewing camp learn how to work with textiles, cut a pattern, sew the garment, and have their own fashion show the last day of camp.
The cost of the camps is offsets by grants. For more information, see www.millvalelibrary.org
Photos are from Music and Multimedia camp where children made musical instruments and learned about songwriting.
