Results of survey concerning possible changes to the national Public Libraries Survey (PLS) Annual Report for reporting year 2024.

Thank you to all who completed the survey. Please take a few minutes to review the results of the survey questions:

  • Should we keep the “yearly number of website visits” question?
    • No = 65%
    • Yes = 35%
  • Should we keep the “number of e-books” question?
    • No = 29%
    • Yes = 71%
  • Should we keep the “number of audio downloadable units” question?
    • No = 35%
    • Yes = 65%
  • Should we keep the “number of video downloadable units” question?
    • No = 45%
    • Yes = 55%
  • Should we keep the “number of electronic collections available to patrons by the purchasing entity” question?
    • No = 54%
    • Yes = 46%

We will use the results of the survey to make decisions about the state questions on the 2024 reporting year’s annual report. People who requested to be part of the data work group will be contacted directly.

The Bureau of Library Development (BLD) in the Office of Commonwealth Libraries supports libraries and library services for Pennsylvanians through the administration of state and federally funded programs and grant opportunities including LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act), Library Access, LAMP (Library of Accessible Media for Pennsylvanians), the Public Library Subsidy, and Keystone Grants for Public Library Facilities.
