Summer is a wonderfully active time at the library and beyond! Here are a few resources to keep you and your patrons connected to health topics in these busy months:
- From the National Network of Libraries of Medicine Middle Atlantic Region: an article on Health, Disaster, and Heroes: Resources to Support Summer Reading 2015. Check it out for materials and ideas for programming for children, teens, and adults that explore topics such as emergency preparedness and personal health maintenance. (If you have not yet identified the Regional Medical Library serving your community, be sure to do so for the most up-to-date information on health information services and resources in your area!)
- From ZeroDivide: a recent publication at the HealthAffairs Blog on The Electronic Backpack and Crossover Youth: A Connection through the Cloud to Important Life Documents. An illuminating discussion of the needs and opportunities to support vulnerable youth in staying connected to critical information and services using digital technology.
- From recent Health Happens in Libraries activities: a summary and access to the digital file of our recent poster session at ALA, highlighting five unique public library contributions to community health and related resources. Also published is a summary and full archive of our recent webinar on Launching Community Conversations with Local Health Data.
Have resources or recent activities that your library has done in support of community health that you’d like to share? Reach out at any time to share your story! Have a happy and healthy summer
