Written by city native and historian Ken Frew, Building Harrisburg: The Architects and Builders 1719-1941 is a comprehensive look at more than 200 years of Harrisburg’s architectural history. Tracing its days from a colonial trading post and John Harris’s Ferry, to its incorporation as a third-class city and the state capital of the twentieth century, Harrisburg’s past is painstakingly researched and richly told. Illustrated with over 350 color and black and white photographs, architectural drawings and renderings, many of them rare, Building Harrisburg will have appeal for both scholars and lay readers alike.
