Each year the American Library Association (ALA) honors books, videos, and other outstanding materials for children and teens. Collectively known as the ALA Youth Media Awards (YMA), these awards are a compilation of the most prestigious literary honors for youth. Selected by committees composed of librarians and other literature and media experts, the awards encourage original and creative work in the fields of children’s and young adult literature and media. Including the Newbery, Caldecott, Printz, and Coretta Scott King book awards, the ALA YMAs are recognized worldwide for the high quality they represent in guiding parents, educators, librarians, and others in selecting the best materials for youth.
The 2023 Youth Media Award announcements will take place on Monday, January 30, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., during LibLearnX: The Library Learning Experience, ALA’s newest conference offering. For those not attending LibLearnX, the award announcements will be broadcast for free via a livestream webcast, which will also be available on the American Library Association Facebook page.
