Girls Who Code Grows Our Free After School Clubs Program in New Jersey and Pennsylvania

My name is Eve Balick and I am the Regional Partnership Coordinator for Girls Who Code in NJ and PA. a national non-profit the mission of which is to close the gender gap in technology. I am reaching out to schools, libraries and organizations who would like to help start more free Clubs in NJ and PA.  If you might be interested, please read on or go to our website for more information.

Currently, less than a quarter of computing jobs are held by women, and that number is declining. Our organization is working to reverse the decline. Last year, we reached 40,000 girls in all 50 states and we hope to reach 100,000 by the end of 2018 through our Clubs and position our state as a leader in growing computer science education and reaching girls who are historically underrepresented in computer science.

Our Clubs are FREE after-school programs for 3-12th grade students to use computer science to impact their community and join our sisterhood of supportive peers and role models. They can be hosted in schools, universities, libraries, community centers, faith-based organizations, or nonprofits. There’s ZERO fee to start a Club.

To start a free Club you just need a sponsor (like a school or library) to complete the easy online application (link is below), a facilitator (someone over 18 to run the Club, no CS experience required), computers and internet. If you might have 5 Clubs or more (such as a school district), I’d like to suggest a free partnership with us.
