Good afternoon, colleagues.
I am pleased to share the news that Julianne (Julie) Moore will be joining the Programs and Advising Team in the Bureau of Library Development (BLD) as the Professional Development Advisor. While details are still being finalized, I expect her first day to be Monday, February 6th, 2023.
Julie Moore – Professional Development Advisor
Julie Moore is a public library professional who has served in various positions over the past 11 years. Julie began her career as a children’s librarian at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (CLP), where she gained a deep love of early learning and literacy development. Providing excellent service to children and families helped situate her professional values and she credits those early years as building the strong foundation on which the rest of her career would grow.
Julie later served as a Library Services Manager at CLP-Beechview, a smaller library branch serving a diverse and dynamic neighborhood home to both generations of lifelong Pittsburghers as well as folks new to the country.
Julie’s most recent role was as the Coordinator of Partner & Volunteer Services at CLP. She and her team worked to develop relationships with strategic partners, presenters, volunteers, and vendors throughout the region, allowing for the expansion of service and a more equitable distribution of resources to customers throughout the city.
At the intersection of all of these roles, Julie has found a deep connection to coaching and mentoring. She seeks out opportunities to help library workers grow in the profession, expand their knowledge base and boost their confidence and credibility, which is what drew her to this position.
In her non-work life, Julie spends most of her time with her three kids, her husband, a cat, and a puppy. She enjoys reading sci-fi, fantasy and romance (even better all mushed together), doing crossword puzzles (only the easy ones), and playing board games.
