Community Asset Mapping for the Curious | STAGING Compendium

Asset mapping is a strengths-based process for systematically assessing the people, organizations, and institutions in your community to create a conceptual or physical map of your community’s strengths.

This is a wonderful first step in strategic planning, community needs assessment, and building strong, strategic and lasting partnerships and programs.  Asset mapping will also help to prepare your library for applying for future LSTA-funded opportunities, especially for youth services programs.

Join Leah Larson, Program Leader for Youth Development at the University of Minnesota Extension, for an exciting hands-on session to help you identify valuable resources and services in your community on Monday, April 24, 2023, 1:00 – 2:30 PM. This workshop will look at the concepts behind asset mapping and lead you through a planning process as well as introducing concrete tools you can use to see your community through new eyes!

The session will not be recorded; however, a training on concepts and practices will be available via the Pennsylvania Library Staff Academy in the near future.  This session is eligible for 1.5 CE credits and 1.5 Act 48 credits (for individuals with a PA Teaching Certificate).

This project is made possible by Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Office of Commonwealth Libraries.

Register for “Community Asset Mapping for the Curious” on Monday, April 24, 1:00 – 2:30 PM here.
