The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), Office of Commonwealth Libraries is working with QualityMetrics Inc. on a new Five-Year Plan as required by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
The plan will guide all the work of Office of Commonwealth Libraries for 2023-2027 – the work funded by federal LSTA funds as well as that funded by the state. We want to build a fresh platform for expanding and supporting the excellent services Pennsylvania residents receive from all types of libraries.
To gather input from as many Pennsylvanians as possible – those who use and support libraries and those who don’t, we are sharing a brief two-question survey. The survey will open 5/2 and close 5/13. The link to the survey can be found here: https://bit.ly/3LsLbBE
We urge you to share this simple survey far and wide – all Pennsylvanians are encouraged to respond to the survey to share what they want and need from libraries of all types. This feedback will inform OCL’s new goals as well as our proposed programs, projects, and activities.
The survey asks people to identify if they are a:
- Library User / Prospective Library User
- Library Volunteer
- Library Board Member
- Library Staff
- Other: Fill in the blank
and then asks: What do you want to see from your library in the next 3-5 years?
Please share the survey broadly.
To assist in sharing the survey with the public, PDE’s press office has assisted with the creation of a media kit, with social media graphics, text, and a flyer with a QR code link to the survey that you can print and post in your library. [see links below]
Thank you for being a valuable part of creating the next Five-Year Plan and thank you for providing excellent and equitable library services to all Pennsylvanians.
