Professional Development Opportunity for Early Childhood Educators | STAGING Compendium

In the next few weeks, Will Hillenbrand, author of Kite Day, will present Keynote programs at four locations around the state as part of a professional development opportunity for Early Childhood Educators.  Librarians are more than welcome to register and attend the events.  Each event is four hours long with registration beginning at 8:30.  All locations except Philadelphia will include hands-on activities related to Kite Day and STEM.  In Philadelphia, Books in Motion author Julie Dietzler-Glair will present material from her book.

April 12  Community Services for Children, 1520 Hanover Ave, Allentown

April 15  Free Library of Philadelphia, 1901 Vine Street, Philadelphia

April 19  Park Inn Sharon, 3377 New Castle Rd, West Middlesex

April 20  Northern Tier Library, 4015 Dickey Rd, Gibsonia

Here are directions on how to use the PQAS system to register for the One Book Professional Development Days:

To get started:

  • Go to https://www.pakeys.org/pages/get.aspx?page=home
  • Click on Login in the upper right cornerOnce you have a password:
  • If you have never used the system before follow the directions for registration.  Know that it will take at least 24 hours to get a response.  If you registered and attended last year’s One Book program or another PQAS program you can log in.  If you forgot your password you can ask for it to be sent to your registered email address.
  • Login in by clicking the button on the top right corner, put in your email and password
  • When your name and information appears click on the PD Registry tab along the left side of the page.
  • Click on the Student box.
  • Click on Course Catalog. (It is on the gray bar about 1/3 of the way down the page.)
  • Choose to search by Date and an April calendar should appear.
  • Go the date of the workshop you would like to attend, find the Key offering the program that day and click on it.
    Choices:
    April 12 Northeast Key – Allentown Community Services for Children, Allentown
    April 15 Southeast Key – Free Library of Philadelphia
    April 19 Northwest Key – Park Inn Sharon, West Middlesex
    April 20 Southwest Key – Northern Tier Library, Gibsonia
  • On the right side information will pop up on the panel and at the bottom it says, “Click Here to Register” –click on that line.
  • A new page with objectives and schedule for the day will appear once you have in the top left corner under “Needs Based” a gray button with In Cart (Checkout).  Click on that button
  • The title of the workshop will appear, the dollar amount will be “0.” Just click Finish at the bottom of the page and Enrollment completed will show on a gray band
