Don’t miss the solar eclipse on August 21st!
Stop by Soldiers’ Grove between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM on August 21st and watch the solar eclipse of 2017 at the State Library of Pennsylvania!
If you are curious about space or the eclipse, librarians will have a table set up outside the State Library main entrance at Soldiers’ Grove between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM. You can look through a telescope or solar glasses, use a pinhole projector, and participate in various MakerSpace activities. The State Library has lots of resources about the sun, the moon, astronomy and even official government documents about NASA and our solar system. Are you looking for a specific resource about the eclipse? Ask a librarian!
If the weather cooperates, Soldiers’ Grove is a nice open space to watch the eclipse. Even in the case of inclement weather, we will still be live-streaming the eclipse from the path of totality in the lobby of the Forum Building. Come visit and learn more about the science of space! The next total eclipse won’t happen for 18 years: enjoy this one with us!
