Join Tish Morgan, Director of Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO) Standards for Excellence Program, for this one-day workshop that will give you the tools to get back to the basics and build a functional, effective, and engaged board.
Topics for the day will include:
- Key responsibilities of the Board: What are the legal, fiduciary, and operational responsibilities of a library board?
- Role of the Board versus Role of the Staff: What should the board manage? Where is the line between board responsibilities and staff responsibilities?
- Building Effective Committees: Committees are a great way to get work done, but only if they are organized and effective. Learn how good committees operate, what each committee should have, and how to ensure committees are working toward their goals.
- Board Engagement: Learn how to engage current board members with strategic meetings, how to recruit future board members that bring expertise to your library, and how to involve the community in the work of the library.
Workshop Leader: PATRICIA “TISH” MOGAN, DIRECTOR, STANDARDS FOR EXCELLENCE PROGRAM
Tish is passionate about the work of the nonprofit sector. Tish lives that passion through assisting nonprofit organizations to strengthen infrastructure, focus on creating a culture of ethics and accountability, create efficiency and improve management of operations and governance. Working with the resources, tools and methodology of the Standards for Excellence® Program, an Ethics and Accountability Program makes that assistance fruitful and rich.
Tish brings over 40 years of experience in education and nonprofit management including experience as an Executive Director of a nonprofit organization. Tish has served as adjunct faculty of Eastern University’s MS in Nonprofit Management where she implemented the nonprofit business ethics course. Tish holds a BA in Mathematics with a minor in Education, an MA in Theology from St. Bonaventure University and an MBA with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from Eastern University. Tish has served on many nonprofit boards and community projects. A native of Southeastern PA, Tish now resides in Central Pennsylvania.
