  • A Children’s Garden at Avon Lake Public Library: The Avon Lake Public Library (OH) created a children’s garden. They provided the opportunity for young patrons to learn about farming, farm animals, and raising food, as well as the experience of digging in the dirt and planting, harvesting and eating vegetables. This library program also provided clients of Community Resource Services with fresh produce grown in their garden
  • Seeds of Change: A Seed Library for All Ages: The ancient Chinese proverb says “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” The Middle Tyger Library, a branch of the Spartanburg County (SC) Public Libraries, borrowed some wisdom from this famous adage to be self-sufficient, and started a seed lending library.
